The next Kidz Klub will be on Saturday 19th May, from 10.30 am to 12 noon at St Andrew's URC church in Watling Street, opposite the multi-storey car park.

Parents/Carers - if you are bringing your child(ren) why not drop into the cafe for a free tea or coffee? We look forward to seeing you.

This term we are continuing to raise money to help build a girls' boarding house for a school in Juba, South Sudan. This will give the girls a safe environment in which to study so that they can play their part in developing world's newest country.

Kidz Klub started in 2001 at All Saints' Church, Canterbury. In October 2004, with the support of eight churches, Canterbury Kidz Klub went City-wide. A Board of Trustees was set up representing six of the churches and charitable status was granted by the Charity Commissioners on 28th December 2006. Our charity registration number is 1117405.

Last Saturday we had the story of John the Baptist. John’s clothes were woven from coarse camel hair, and he wore a leather belt around his waist. For food he ate locusts and wild honey. Not exactly Macdonalds!

He was telling people that they should stop doing what is wrong and change their lifestyle to become better people. If they agreed with this he would baptise them in the river Jordan as a sign that they were washed clean.

But John also had an important role. He was announcing that Jesus would be coming and would be much greater than John. People should get ready for Jesus.

The café runs from 10:30 to 12 noon while Kidz Klub is running. It's an area for parents to relax with a cup of tea or coffee and a cake or a biscuit.

The café is also a place where our invited guests can stay to watch Kidz Klub in operation.

Please note that all parents and guests have to sign in at reception. Kidz Klub children are not permitted in the café and parents and guests are not permitted in the main part of the building during Kidz Klub. This is in line with our Child Protection policy.

John is on the core team and helps out on Saturdays. He also designs the weekly colouring sheet.

Each week there is a competition. It's usually boys against girls. We can win points for winning the games but also we can lose points for making a noise when it's time for "silent seats". It's good to hear about things that help us at school and home.

Canterbury Kidz Klub is held at St Andrew's United Reformed Church (URC), Watling Street, Canterbury CT1 2UA. Click here for map.

We run a number of bus routes to pick up the children and return them to the same location. Details of the bus routes are printed on the weekly colouring sheets.

Girls' Boarding House - Juba Diocesan Secondary School, South Sudan

South Sudan is the world's newest country. It currently has the world's lowest rate for primary school enrolment. Added to this, it is not normal for girls to attend school beyond 11 years of age and so only 2% of the school population accounts for girls in secondary education.

Kidz Klub is collecting to help build a boarding house for girls. This will allow more girls to stay on at school in a safe environment and to improve themselves so that they, in turn may help this new country by fulfilling roles, such as teachers and doctors.
